1. Bereavement Support Payment

The Bereavement Support Payment is a government benefit designed to help those who have recently lost a spouse or civil partner. This payment consists of a lump sum followed by monthly installments, depending on your situation.

  • Eligibility: You must be under State Pension age, and your partner must have paid National Insurance contributions for at least 25 weeks.

2. Funeral Expenses Payment

For those on a low income or receiving certain benefits, the Funeral Expenses Payment can help cover the costs associated with a funeral, such as cremation or burial fees, death certificates, and travel expenses.

Eligibility

You must be responsible for funeral costs and receiving benefits such as Universal Credit, Income Support, or Housing Benefit.
